Long considered among the most colorful rivalries in college football history, the Pitt-West Virginia football game was one of the sad casualties of realignment a decade ago. Back in 2011, when Pitt left the Big East for the Atlantic Coast Conference and West Virginia followed suit by joining the Big 12 a few months later, there was a feeling that this football game was going to be put on hold for a while until the dust settled.

You Pitt people are aware of it, of course, but not nearly so aware of it as every man, woman and child in West Virginia that it has been 19 years since we Mountaineers last tasted victory over your Panthers on the football field.
These are just a few of the many stories, remembrances and personal reflections that have been passed on to me over the course of the last 30 years. Hopefully, these stories (and others) will continue to live on, along with this great football game.

Independence, KAN- Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017- The Independence Community College (ICC) pirates football team has cracked the top five in the latest NJCAA Division I football rankings on October 31 for the first time this season. The ranking comes after beating Hutchinson Community College 24-19 on Saturday, October 28.
The Senior Bowl put out its watch list on Wednesday morning with college football set to get underway this weekend. Michigan is represented by wide receivers Ronnie Bell and Cornelius Johnson, tight ends Erick All and Luke Schoonmaker, offensive tackle Ryan Hayes, interior offensive lineman Olu Oluwatimi, defensive lineman Julius Welschof, EDGE Taylor Upshaw and defensive back Mike Sainristil.
Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy, a Michigan alum, heads the event and runs it like one would run an NFL front office. They have a full scouting staff that travels to games and gets to know prospective players. Nagy has seen a lot of football and gotten to know many up close. Even without his ties to Ann Arbor, he has been impressed with the type of men head coach Jim Harbaugh sends to the league.
Bettis was born February 16, 1972, in Detroit, Michigan. He is the oldest of three children of Gladys Elizabeth (née Bougard) and Johnnie E. Bettis.[3] Bettis did not start playing football until high school, as his primary passion as a youth had been bowling. At age 14, he was diagnosed with asthma.[4] As a youth in Detroit, Bettis and his brother made ends meet by selling crack cocaine.[5] He attended Mackenzie High School in Detroit, where he was a standout running back and linebacker. As a senior, he was rated the top player in the state by the Detroit Free Press, and was the Gatorade Circle of Champions Player of the Year award winner.
Bettis enrolled at the University of Notre Dame to play college football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Bettis finished his career with 337 rushing attempts for 1,912 yards (5.7 yards per attempt), and made 32 receptions for 429 yards (13.4 yards per reception). In his last game as a junior, a 28-3 win by Notre Dame over Texas A&M in the 1993 Cotton Bowl, he rushed 20 times for 75 yards, ran for two touchdowns and caught a 26-yard touchdown pass. In his sophomore year, he set the Notre Dame touchdown record with 20 in one season, with 16 rushing, and 4 receiving (23 total touchdowns including the 1992 Sugar Bowl, a record which still stands).
Since President Biden took office in January 2021, Rep. Over the past two years Democrats have passed the American Rescue Plan, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the CHIPS and Science Act and the Inflation Reduction Act.
The FIRST STEP Act provides retroactive relief for the shameful crack cocaine sentencing disparity that unfairly destroyed lives, families and communities. The law shortens sentences by ensuring inmates can earn the 54 days of good time credit per year Congress intended and applies the change retroactively, to the benefit of thousands of currently incarcerated mothers, fathers, daughters and sons. It provides $375 million over five years to expand re-entry programming, including education and vocational training, which is proven to dramatically reduce recidivism and help prepare for a successful transition back into society. In order to strengthen and preserve family relationships, the bill requires the Bureau of Prisons to house incarcerated individuals within 500 driving miles of their relatives and permits the transfer of lower-risk inmates to home confinement. In addition, the FIRST STEP Act bans the immoral practice of shackling women throughout the duration of their pregnancy, during childbirth and for three months postpartum.
But the truth is, these steps won't make up for the seven million jobs that we've lost over the last two years. The only way to move to full employment is to lay a new foundation for long-term economic growth, and finally address the problems that America's families have confronted for years.

How he got here: This might have been the most stressful acquisition of the Cowboys' offseason. If your memory is a fuzzy, a refresher: Tolbert was one of several receivers this front office targeted in the 2022 NFL Draft. The problem is that they also coveted Ole Miss pass rusher Sam Williams, who was also available when they went on the clock with the No. 56 overall pick on April 29. The Cowboys weighed their options, and Williams ultimately became the second-round pick. The draft gods smiled on them, however, as Tolbert hung around another 32 picks and was still sitting on the board when they picked again at No. 88 overall. Having considered him a round earlier, the decision was a no-brainer at the second time around and Tolbert became their third-round pick.
NFL teams are doing better when it comes to the front office. Shortly after the Broncos officially changed hands, the team announced a new team president, Damani Leech. In two years, the league went from never having had a Black person serve as a team president to having four, with the Washington franchise hiring Jason Wright in August 2020, then in 2022 the Baltimore Ravens, Las Vegas Raiders, and Broncos following suit.
